How to Correctly Determine the Amount of Cologne or Perfume to Apply
You don’t want your scent to overwhelm those around you, but it can be difficult to pinpoint the right amount that is truly enjoyable when you use it. Here’s how to always apply the perfect amount.
First, there is a simple tip to keep in mind: at arm’s length (keep both arms out to the sides) is the maximum distance you can smell. Inside, people should first notice your cologne or perfume. Plus, you’re probably wearing too much.
You can find out how many sprays it takes to get to that point by applying one sprint, rubbing it in, and then asking a friend at arm’s length to see if they can smell your scent. If not, add again and try again. Repeat until you get the perfect spray amount. You may need to do this with every scent you use. If you are alone and don’t have anyone to give you this sanity check, consider one or two sprites as the maximum.
Finally, instead of bathing in it or spraying it all over your body, apply cologne or perfume to your wrists and rub in and possibly over your ears. These dots allow you and others to enjoy the scent without overpowering or sticking to your clothes and not your skin.
