According to Consumer Reports, the Cars People Regret Buying the Most
Buying a new car is always fun at first, but it can take a while before you realize that your ride is more of a lemon than a luxury. Consumer Reports surveyed recently purchased car owners to find out which models are the most regrettable among buyers.
After reaching out to over 300,000 new car owners, Consumer Reports has compiled a list of seven vehicles you might want to revisit before driving them out of the parking lot. In the video above, car editor Mike Monticello reviews each one in seven different categories:
- Small Cars: Dodge Dart . The owners noted slow acceleration and weak air conditioning.
- Midsize Sedans: Chrysler 200 The owners said it was difficult to get in and out of, and the back seat was too small.
- Small SUVs: Jeep Compass . The owners noted poor acceleration and disappointing fuel consumption.
- Mid-size SUVs: Nissan Pathfinder . Owners cited too many unscheduled dealership trips, uncomfortable seats and low fuel consumption as common problems.
- Minivans: Dodge Grand Caravan . Owners commented on rough gearchanges, uncomfortable seats, and a cheap interior.
- Pickups: Nissan Frontier . Owners complained about too much road noise and awkward steering.
- Worst: Acura ILX . Less than half of those surveyed said they would buy the car again, citing general lack of quality, harsh acceleration, heavy road noise and rough driving as problems.
Remember, a good price doesn’t mean a good deal. Always do a lot of research before you decide to spend your money on a car.
