Earny Offers Automatic Refunds for Citibank and Chase Cardholders When Prices Drop
Web / iOS / Android: Amazon recently changed its price cut policy , making these awesome auto price cut apps a little less useful. However, one such app, Earny, found a way around this. Instead, they launched a feature that automates discounted refunds through credit card issuers.
At least for now, this function only works with Citibank and Chase cards. If you purchase something using these cards and the price of that item drops, Earny will automatically file a refund claim. To use this tool, you need to link your email, credit cards, and Amazon account. They only have access to your email to search for receipts, and they don’t store your credentials. Their privacy policy doesn’t say anything more about how they ensure security, but in an email, founder Oded Wakrat told us:
We use oauth2 authentication for these providers, so we only have access to the token provided by Google or Microsoft. If you are using a different email provider, your credentials will be encrypted using AES-256. Our cryptographic keys are stored in a high-security vault with encryption and validation by the FIPS 140-2 Level 2 HSM (Hardware Security Module) verified validation.
Wakrath adds that they use the same method with credit cards.
If the instrument successfully refunds your reduced price, you will receive an email and the refund should appear on your credit card statement. To try it for yourself, follow the link below.
