Lose Excess Fat From Savory Sliced Breads
Let’s say you’ve just cooked a stew, soup, or something else that has a layer of fat floating on top of it, and you want to get rid of it. You can use the ice cube trick , spoon out the fat, or refrigerate it to harden the fat and remove it later. These are good options, but now you have another one: remove the top with sliced bread to absorb the grease.
I learned this bread trick while watching Gordon Ramsay make his chefs crunchy, juicy looking pork belly. At about 2:52 in the video, he shows how he simply drags slices of bread across the surface of the sauce to absorb all that fat. The bread “looks like the perfect biscuit” and also makes a great fried bread.
