Make These Mini Ham and Cheese Sandwiches Inside the Bread for Your Next Party
Crumb, toasted, ham and cheese sandwiches are very comforting canapes, but they become something very special when you serve them inside a loaf or warm, soft bread.
The video above can walk you through the entire cooking process, but it looks a lot more complicated than it actually is. First, you need to take a large loaf of sandwich bread, gouge it out, and cut the carbohydrate core into small squares. Fry the squares with a little oil and add ham, gruyere and some Dijon mustard. Cut the sandwiches into triangles, wedge them diagonally into a large loaf of bread, put on the top, wrap everything in foil and bake for half an hour at 400. Present your guests with what appears to be a boring loaf of bread and watch their eyes light up when you remove the top crust, opening up a variety of cheesy, salty and toast sandwiches.
