Microwave Mulled Wine
The words “mulled wine” most likely conjure up images of large pots simmering slowly with wine and spices. That’s all well and good, but the holidays can be hectic and you may not have time to look after the bubbling pot. To fill your wine with aromas without even turning on the stovetop, you need a microwave.
Click the link below to view the complete Real Simple recipe, but you can apply this cooking method to just about any mulled wine. Simply mix a bottle of (cheap) wine with half a cup of honey, citrus zest, and spices like cinnamon, cloves, and anise in a large microwave-safe bowl. Preheat the whole thing in the microwave until it’s hot but not boiling (about three minutes), then cover and let sit for about 15 minutes. Stir in half a cup of brandy and pour into separate mugs, garnished with cinnamon sticks and orange slices (if necessary, heat individual portions for 30 seconds or so).
