The Rest of the Day: Vine Will Be Replaced by the Simpler Vine Camera App
As part of the Vine phase out, the Vine app will soon be replaced by a stripped-down version called Vine Camera. Basically, all aspects of the Vine community will be gone, but the app will still let you shoot six-second videos that you can share on Twitter. About this and much more in today’s news.
- The Vine Camera will arrive sometime in January. Until then, you can download all your Vines online or through the app. They’ll also add a way to connect with your Vine followers on Twitter if you haven’t already. [Vine]
- Amazon Fire TV is being updated today with a new look. You will notice that the navigation controls that were previously on the left side of the screen are now at the top, giving more space to the shows themselves. It’s a “more cinematic experience,” according to Amazon. Does this mean that this makes the floor sticky and covered in popcorn? Just kidding, guys, kidding. The carpeted floor will be fine. - KickassTorrents has been revived by some of its original employees. The popular site was previously shut down by the US government, but part of the community behind the site has revived a nearly identical version from scratch. It is currently overloaded with traffic. [TorrentFreak]
- You will be able to try out the Nintendo Switch in January when Nintendo unveils its new device at the road show. They will visit five major cities starting in New York on January 13 to show hands-on demonstrations of the Switch. They will also have a few drawbacks – PAX South, East and SXSW.
