Evernote Disclaims Its Privacy Changes by Giving Employees Access to Your Notes.

Earlier this week, Evernote updated its privacy policy, making machine learning features that allow some employees to read your notes a must for all users. The company is now returning to this policy, but some problems still remain.

According to a new blog post on the subject, Evernote has revisited its upcoming changes. Machine learning will be available to everyone, but employees will only be able to view your notes as part of this process if you explicitly agree. The changes were expected to take effect on January 23rd, but instead, Evernote will be working to update its privacy policy “in the coming months.”

However, as we pointed out in our last part, this does not necessarily mean that your notes are protected from prying eyes. Unless Evernote makes more changes to their privacy policy, they can still read your notes if they suspect you are violating the Terms of Service for troubleshooting purposes or to comply with legal warranties. If you are concerned about the privacy of your notes, you should encrypt them now . Or, you can always leave the ship and use another note-taking service .
