Use the 5-3-1 Method to Choose Dinner Plans With a Partner Without Fuss
Figuring out where or what to eat with your partner becomes more difficult the more you do the routine. To avoid “Well, what do you want to eat?” loop, try method 5-3-1.
As Reddit user Mic_Check_One_Two explains, Method 5-3-1 is a three-step process that works something like this:
- You suggest five places to eat or what to cook for dinner.
- Your partner chooses three from this list that he likes.
- You choose one of three.
Boom. You now have dinner plans. You can turn off those who have to put forward the first five proposals, but here the goal is to narrow down the options. When you choose from an entire grocery store, or worse, every restaurant in town, the choices are overwhelming and analytical paralysis can ensue . This method skips it entirely. And if you’re both unhappy with the result, you can just start over.
