Don’t Sit Down on Credit Card Rewards
If you want to be rewarded for your trip , you must allow credit card points to accumulate, and this can take a while. Just don’t hoard them, because over time they can lose value.
Many credit card users are rewarded without even using them, which is of little benefit to them. Worse, if the credit card issuer changes their loyalty program, which happens , those points could decrease in value. Robert Harrow at Forbes explains:
… the bonus points are likely to diminish in value over time. Loyalty programs are constantly being discounted by companies. This way, the points you accumulate will not grow over time. The only way to get something from them is to use them. Avoid hoarding and use your rewards whenever you can.
Of course, sometimes you have to wait in order to use your points, especially if you are saving them for something specific, such as travel. On the other hand, hoarding them is usually not the best move. For more information, see the full Forbes article.
