Send Files Between Devices Without Uploading to a Reseller Using Takeafile

When you email yourself a file, or use something like Dropbox to transfer files between devices, your data is stored somewhere on the server as an intermediary. If you’d rather exclude intermediaries, Takeafile.com uses peer-to-peer technology to transfer files, no plugins required.

All you have to do is drag and drop the file you want to send to Takeafile and then they will generate a link to send to your desired destination or recipient. When the recipient clicks the link, they establish a connection between your two browsers to transfer the file. Takeafile takes advantage of the WebRTC capabilities of Chrome or Firefox, which means you don’t need to download any other app to use it. This also means that the file is only available as long as you have a browser open (restriction, but you can also consider this as a security feature). You also have the option to upload the file to their servers if you want it to be available for a longer period of time. And if you want to transfer multiple files, it will make a ZIP archive to send them together.

As far as security is concerned, you never upload a file to Takeafile (unless you want to), so you don’t have to worry about them saving anything, and the transfer itself is encrypted. This is an easy way to send any file through your browser without hosting it anywhere.
