Turkey Toss Week 7: Final Countdown
Well tomorrow is a big day. (Or later this weekend, depending on when your race is scheduled.) Don’t panic! You trained. Your body is ready. Here are some final tips to help you get ready.
Hopefully you got into your progression launch last week, and reassured yourself that you can run fast and you kind of like it. Today you can take a day off, but if you want to go jogging, choose your favorite trail or scenic road – whatever pleases you.
Don’t run hard today; you don’t want to be sick or tired tomorrow. Take a moment to plan what you will do on race day, whether you are participating in an organized race or simply challenging yourself on the streets of your area. What will you wear? What time are you leaving? What will you have for breakfast?
You have already decided on the best equipment , so use this knowledge. We’ve got a few ideas for breakfast on competition day : If you’re out of food, try a banana with or without peanut butter toast. Review our race day preparation checklists and complete your plans.
Plan to arrive early enough for the run so you can run a cute slow mile as a warm-up, or at least take a quick walk. Warming up literally warms up, but also makes it easier to start the race.
Whatever happens on race day, be sure to have fun! And if you have any questions about how to prepare or how to calm your nerves on race day, ask them below.
