Make Tons of Different Delicious Bean Sauces With This Simple Formula
Hummus may be the most popular bean-based sauce, but almost any legume can make a delicious pasta, and Bon Appetit offers a simple formula for making your own dish.
Click the link below for some great flavor combinations, but to turn any jar of beans into a creamy sauce, you’ll need one of the following:
- A 15-ounce can of beans : Black, white, creamy beans, and garbanzo beans are all good options.
- Tablespoon Something Butter : Bon Appetit recommends tahini, peanut butter and Greek yogurt, but I’m also a big fan of sour cream and labne.
- A pinch of something flavorful: Try ginger, garlic, chili, herbs, or toasted spices.
- A little acid: The juice and zest of half a lemon or lime should help you, but you can also try a teaspoon or two of your favorite vinegar.
- A little sweet: A drizzle of honey, agave, or maple syrup will help balance all your tastes, so you can always take the fruity route and quit the date.
- Some Herbs for Topping: Any fresh herbs you think can complement your tasty creation, if you so desire.
Simply toss the beans of your choice into a food processor with a couple tablespoons of olive oil, a little salt and pepper, mix everything together, and add the remaining flavoring ingredients (excluding the filling). Combine the blitz, transfer to a nice bowl, garnish with herbs and serve proudly.
