Uber Prepaid Upgrades With Smart Shortcuts
Uber has been rolling out updates to its app in the past week, and they’ve made some pretty significant and useful changes.
Now Uber is looking at your driving schedule and making suggestions based on your location and time of day, which speeds things up a bit. It also offers up-front fares instead of indicative rates, so you know how much you’re paying even before you actually book your trip. But best of all, their new travel feed, which details your trip, such as arrival time and driver details. You can also share your trip with friends and share your location with someone else so they can follow your trip.
Yuki Yamashita of Uber at Wired explained:
“As soon as the driver sets out on a ride, the app experience changes,” says the product manager who oversaw the redesign. As your car pulls away from the curb, a scrolling ribbon of cards appears at the bottom of the screen, covering an old map of your journey. Swiping up takes you through a stack of services that Uber thinks might be of use to you on your trip … Swipe left on the UberEats card to see which restaurants can take you home in sync with your check-in time … Yelp Card lets you swipe to view photos and reviews of popular foods … Right in your Uber feed is a Snapchat card with customizable filters, including one that updates your forgotten dinner date with your estimated arrival time.
