Fingerprint Gestures Turn Your Fingerprint Sensor Into a Powerful Touchpad

Android (6.0+): Google Pixel phones have some pretty cool fingerprint gestures. We’ve already seen one attempt at replicating this on other phones , but Fingerprint Gestures may be the most complete app we’ve ever seen.

When you install this app, you can customize three types of fingerprint gestures: single tap, double tap, and swipe. Each gesture can have one of the following actions:

  • Back button
  • Home button
  • Recent Apps
  • Sleep (root required)
  • Power button menu
  • Scroll down (root required)
  • Scroll up (root required)
  • Open the notification panel
  • Toggle notification bar
  • Open quick settings
  • Play / pause song
  • Next song
  • Previous song
  • Launch the application
  • Flashlight
  • Switch call mode
  • Toggle split screen (in Nougat)

The first time you launch the gesture, you will be prompted to give the app permission to use the accessibility feature. For the single-tap gesture, you can also configure the action for recognized fingerprints only. It’s not as fast as it is on Pixel phones and may not work on all devices, but it’s a handy set of gestures that you didn’t have before.
