How to Avoid Game of Thrones Spoilers for Next Year
The entire Game of Thrones Season 7 storyline may have already been leaked and is not expected to return to HBO until next summer. Here are some simple things you can do to avoid spoilers until now.
Previously, Game of Thrones spoilers were widely available in the form of books by George Martin. But now that the series has moved forward and deviated from the history of the books, spoilers are more worrisome. Here’s what you can do:
- Use Social Fixer: If you don’t want to hear a word about thrones, dragons, demons, dogs, or mountains on Facebook, Social Fixer can help you. This is an extension for Chrome and Firefox that allows you to set your own content filters for status updates. Bonus: You also can use it to block the annoying political messages .
- Filter Twitter by Keyword: Twitter apps like Tweetdeck and Tweetbot have hidden settings to let you filter text . On the Tweetdeck go to Settings, then Global Filter and add the text you want to filter. On Tweetbot, tap the chat bubble icon, then tap Add Keyword and add the text you want to block.
- Block YouTube comments: Use ” No YouTube Comments for Chrome” or ” Comment Snob” for Firefox to hide them from your view.
- Avoid Forums: If you frequent the forums or the Game of Thrones subreddit, you might want to stay away. In fact, this is generally good advice.
Think of these tools as your digital version of the wall. It will protect you from spoilers for as long as it can, but winter is already here and there is a good chance some of them will eventually break through.
