Practice Eye Contact While Watching TV

Eye contact is an important part of a good first impression. But if you have a bad habit of looking elsewhere while people are talking, some practice can help. You don’t even have to get off the couch.

Taking the time to notice eye color is an easy way to develop a good eye contact habit . If you’re still not comfortable with training with real people, Nicholas Butman, author of How People Like You in 90 Seconds or Less , invites you to practice with your favorite TV series. Every time a new character appears close-up on the screen, look them in the eyes and say the name of the color in your head. Eventually, you can transfer the practice to real people. And before you know it, your eyes will automatically meet.
