Make Adorable Autumn Cookies With Real Leaves As Templates
These days there seems to be a cookie cutter for every season and holiday, but I just don’t have a place to store Santa hats, hearts, and pretty fall leaves. Luckily, there is an elegant (and free) way to get a cute leaf-shaped cookie: simply harvest them from nature.
Epicurious guides you through the process at the link below, but the main thing you’ll want to focus on is collecting freshly fallen, pliable leaves that still have a lot of color on them. After that, you will need to wash them (like the greens) and let them dry completely. Squeeze the leaves into rolled sugar cookie dough, circle them with a sharp pair of knives, and place the adorable cookies on a baking sheet. Chill in the freezer for 5-10 minutes and bake as usual.
