Rest of the Day: You Can Now Cast Facebook Videos to Chromecast
As videos are now ubiquitous in the social media news feed, Facebook is adding new features to improve the viewing experience. You can now watch Facebook videos on your TV using Chromecast or Apple TV.
- Facebook now supports casting videos from your desk phone to Google Chromecast or compatible device. They also support Apple TV and AirPlay devices, so the icon to activate the feature is the TV symbol, not the broadcast button you might be familiar with. - In other news, Google Photos has several new AI-powered features. Photos that are mis-oriented (i.e., unintentionally vertically or horizontally) will be automatically detected and corrected, and improved face recognition can now recall old memories when it recognizes the person in your photos. - Soylent has stopped selling its new grocery bars after reports of customers getting sick after swallowing the bars. They say this is a precaution because no one really knows what makes people sick and recommend that you throw away any leftover bars. Customers will be offered a full refund. [Gizmodo]
- Vine has a new feature called Soundboard that lets you insert sounds from popular Vines into your own clips. [Vine via TechCrunch ]
