Western Digital’s New Lineup Lets You Fit Tons of Storage Into Your Pocket Drives

Among the announcements are the new My Passport drives, which took first place in the recent Kinja co-op game, with built – in 256-bit encryption and up to 4TB of storage to fit in your pocket. Western Digital’s My Book line also gets new storage and a design shift (the new glossy black top and textured bottom looks sharp but will likely attract a few fingerprints) and now has up to 8TB of storage on a single drive. Both new models easily connect to your computer via USB 3.0, and My Passport drives do not require additional power like any good portable external drive.
The new My Passport drives will set you back $ 79 for the 1TB version and $ 159 for the flagship 4TB version, with 2TB ($ 109) and 3TB ($ 149) intermediate stops. They also come in a variety of colors. You’ll need to shell out $ 129 for the 3TB version of the new My Book and $ 299 for the massive 8TB model, with 4TB ($ 149) and 6TB ($ 229) in between.
WD also unveiled a new line of solid state drives under the WD Blue and WD Green flags, the former for performance and multitasking, while the latter for energy efficiency and durability. The new WD Blue the SSD – drives run from $ 79 for a model of 250GB, $ 139 for the model 500 GB, and go up to $ 299 for the 1 TB the SSD that WD has sent us to experience (more on that in a showdown future) … The new WD Greens will be smaller, 120GB and 240GB, and pricing has yet to be announced.
