Federal Judge Extends Florida Voting Registration Deadline After Hurricane Matthew
If you live in Florida, you have an extra day to register to vote. Although many states end their deadlines today, Florida residents will have to register to vote by 5pm Wednesday, October 12.
This extension was proposed by the Florida Democratic Party to give all those affected by Hurricane Matthew additional time to register. While Florida Gov. Rick Scott (right) opposed the extension, US District Judge Mark Walker upheld the extension of the deadline for another day. Hearings will also be held on Wednesday to determine if the deadline should be extended further.
Policy aside, if you live in Florida, you have at least one more day to register if you haven’t already. You can check if you are registered here and, if not, start the registration process here .
