Comcast Expands 1TB Data Limit to Much More People Nov 1

If you’ve managed to avoid Comcast’s dire data limitations so far, your luck is likely to run low. Effective November 1, 18 new markets will have a 1TB data cap that some areas are already working with.

Comcast has been “experiencing” data caps in many markets (including my hometown Atlanta) since 2012, but earlier this year raised the previous cap from 300GB to 1TB after an incredible number of customers filed complaints with the FCC about the cap. data . Note: if you ever want to do this, here’s how !

Now Comcast seems comfortable enough with their new data cap to roll out to many more markets across the country. From November 1st, these markets will see a new internet tariff limit:

  • Alabama (Dothan)
  • California
  • Colorado
  • Florida (North Florida, Southwest Florida and West Palm)
  • Southeast Georgia
  • Idaho
  • Indiana (Indianapolis and Central Indiana; Fort Wayne and East Indiana)
  • Kansas
  • Michigan (Grand Rapids / Lansing, Detroit and Eastern Michigan)
  • Minnesota
  • Missouri
  • New Mexico
  • Western ohio
  • Oregon
  • Texas (Houston)
  • Utah
  • Washington
  • Wisconsin

It is notable that New York and much of the Northeast are missing from this list, but it is still a huge number of new customers that are limited. Users will receive notifications via browser notifications (which pop up over everything you’re currently working on, but will be hard to find again if you close the tab accidentally), email, and text notifications.

Once you hit the limit — a word that Comcast dislikes, preferring to call it simply “data plan” —you will not be turned off. You just need to pay $ 10 extra for every 50GB you upgrade. To avoid over-billing, Comcast caps this fee to an additional $ 200 per month. Plus, you can add unlimited data to your plan for an additional $ 50 per month. You’re lucky.
