Arch Terminal Desktop

This linux desktop is a tribute to one of our favorite distros , Arch Linux, and reader Kunal Gadgil shared it with us in our desktop presentation and post . Here’s how you can get a look similar.

Since this is a Linux desktop (which is running KDE Plasma 5 , one of your favorite desktop environments ), you’ll need a few components to get started, but not a universal tool or utility to configure everything.

Here’s what you need:

That’s pretty much it. The standalone KDE applications are obviously optional, but they fit into the overall theme. If you’re an Arch user, we’re guessing that you could add even more customization or system monitors to it with judicious use of Conky , a Linux utility that we see on many of our recommended desktops. However, if you have questions about how to set it up or how to make it look like this, click on the Flickr link below and ask.

Do you have a beautiful and functional desktop to show off? Share with us! Place it in a personal blog using Kinja tag DesktopShowcase or add it to our pool of Lifehacker Desktop Show and the Flickr Tell . Screenshots must be at least 1280×720 and include information about what you used, links to wallpapers, skins and themes, and any other important information. If your wonderful desktop catches our attention, you may be on our favorites!
