How to Stream MLB Playoffs No Cable Required

Major League Baseball’s postseason kicks off tonight with a Wild Card game between the Orioles and the Blue Jays. Coverage spreads across multiple networks over the next few weeks, but most games are available to stream.

Most of the games leading up to the World Series will not be available on air (although the World Series will air on Fox), which means that you will need to pay for some service to watch all of the games. Here are your options.

PlayStation Vue or Sling TV

To watch every game, you need access to multiple stations: Fox, Fox Sports 1, ESPN, and TBS. TBS gets most of the American League games, Fox and Fox Sports 1 get the National League games (with the exception of the wildcard game between the Giants and the Mets, which will be on ESPN). MLB has a list of all the games in case you’re wondering when and where they’ll be streaming.

You have two ways to do it via streaming: Sling TV and PlayStation Vue .

For Sling TV, the cheapest useful subscription is the $ 25 Sling Blue package. This includes TBS for all ALCS games and Fox Sports 1 for all NLCS games. However, that doesn’t give you ESPN (which again only matters if you want to watch the Giants and Mets play). Fox is only available in select markets, however , so check availability if you plan on streaming the World Series as well.

As for PlayStation Vue, you will need to subscribe to the $ 40 package to get all the feeds you need. Again, Fox is limited to certain markets, so check availability ahead of time .

Both PlayStation Vue and Sling TV offer free seven-day trials, so if you time it right and the streak ends quickly, you can theoretically get most of the games without paying a dime.

So, depending on which games you’re interested in, you have a few different options. If you can combine the two free trials of Sling TV and PlayStation Vue, you should be able to get most of the games.

Update: We originally listed the MLB.TV Postseason subscription as an option, but it turns out that you need a cable subscription in order to use it for some strange reason, so we removed that recommendation.
