Signal, an Encrypted Chat App, Is Now Available on the Desktop
Chrome: Signal, an encrypted chat application built by Open Whisper Systems and endorsed by the likes of Edward Snowden, is now out of beta and is available as a desktop application through Chrome.
Unlike a traditional desktop app, Signal requires you to first install the Android or iPhone version of the app. Once one of them is installed, grab the Chrome version, scan the QR code from the mobile version and your accounts will be linked from there. As you’d expect, the desktop version works the same as the mobile version, which means it’s free, includes end-to-end encryption, and works with your existing phone number.
