UPS Is Going to Raise Rates
Get ready for a price hike from United Parcel Service (UPS). The company recently announced that ground, air and international fares will rise by about 4.9 percent. The good news is they are waiting for the end of the holiday season to raise those rates.
Effective December 26, 2016, UPS will increase its regular daily rates, as well as air and freight rates, and other services such as scheduled fees and surcharges for large packages. In a press release, they announced:
Daily rates for UPS® ground handling will increase by an average of 4.9%.
Daily rates for UPS Air and International services will increase by an average of 4.9%.
Additional handling charges will apply for UPS Air and International shipments with the longest side greater than 48 inches instead of 60 inches.
In fact, the increase will come earlier – September 9 – for parcels over £ 150 in the US, Canada and Puerto Rico. They add that retail and UPS SurePost rates will also rise, and they will announce the increase in November.
