Long Road Ahead Desktop
Reader Alec introduced this simple, minimal Mac desktop at our Desktop Showcase , it’s simple, understated, and looks great. Here’s how you can set it up.
This is one of those desktops that looks simple and elegant and doesn’t have much work to do, but has been fine-tuned to be more streamlined and simpler. Here’s what you’ll need if you want to look your own:
- Wallpaper
- The Übersicht customization framework for OS X, which we talked about earlier
- Sidebar widget for Übersicht
- Liteicon Mac utility to quickly change system icons
- All White Icon Pack for OS X
- Tool settings dock cDock
- Bartender utility for Mac to customize the menu bar
That’s all. Of course, if you don’t like the widget in the bottom right corner, you can omit the Übersicht entirely and use other tools like cDock and Bartender, which are useful on their own. If you like the look or have questions about how to make it yours, visit Alec Kinja’s blog (link below) to ask your questions or sing praises.
