This Video Shows You How to Properly Stretch Your Calves for Better Balance.
Your calves and ankles are underrated muscles that work hard to keep your body steady and balanced when you stand, walk, or run. You may already be stretching your calves , but GMB will show you how to do it right.
The video demonstrates two calf stretches: a straight leg calf stretch and a bent leg calf stretch. The first option focuses on the calf muscle, a part of the calf muscle that people often admire. In the curved version, the ankle joint is more stretched. Healthier calves and ankles mean you can learn to perform steep movements like one-legged squats or pistol squats.
First, find a raised surface, such as a curb, rung, or small ladder, where your heels can hang over the edge and allow you to apply more pressure (rather than pain) to stretch your calves. GMB recommends wearing shoes and keeping the arch of the foot on the edge of the step for best use. For each stretch, just hover for 1 to 2 minutes for 3 sets.
