Six Tips for Managing All Pokémon Go Gyms in Your Area
The gyms in Pokémon Go can be intimidating if you don’t know what you are doing. These tips will turn you into a Pokémon trainer, so other good players will start giving you badges.
In this video from YouTube’s Tech Insider, you will learn a few gym protection tricks you may not have known before. First, don’t think that any gym is too difficult to replace. Just because you see high CP Pokémon there doesn’t mean you can’t win with the right tactics. Here’s what you should do:
- Know Which Pokémon Attack: If you want to attack, use Pokémon like Snorlax, Dragonite, Lapras, Vaporeon (even after the patch), Arcanine, and Exeggutor.
- Choose a gym with low traffic: some gyms are constantly under attack and change hands every five minutes. Choose less busy gyms that allow you to attack and leave defenders alone.
- Choose and organize your Pokémon before the battle: Set your Pokémon’s attack order from lowest CP to highest CP. Don’t burn the strongest Pokemon right away. Also, consider each of their sets so that each of your Pokémon is effective at some point in the battle.
- Attack with Friends: Pokémon Go can be played with friends and other trainers you may want to know about. If the gym is too difficult, try attacking it at the same time with someone from the same team.
- Leave Your Best Defender Behind: The best defenders that can be placed in an empty gym usually have the most health, so they can hold up against attackers for longer. The best defenders are Lapras, Polyvrat, Dragonite, Snorlax, Exeggutor and Slobro in that order.
- Keep your best protector out of the fight: When you clear the gym, you have to quickly shove a Pokémon in there, otherwise someone else will do it. This is why it is best to keep the defender out of combat and with full health. The Defender must be at full health to take the seat, and the time it takes to heal the Pokémon is enough for someone else to attack and steal your victory.
After you’ve secured the gym, you can hang out a bit and increase its prestige so other teammates can place their Pokémon there as well. You are now ready to go out and proudly announce your team.
