How to Ditch Chrome’s New Material Design and Revert to Old
Chrome 52 is rolling out today for both Windows and Mac, and the first thing you’ll notice is that it has a slightly new look. This new interface works better on some devices than others, but luckily if you’re not a fan, it’s easy to bring back the old design.
Chrome 52 is all about Google Material Design , which means the UI has gotten a bit flatter and a lot of icons have changed. This means that the shapes of the tabs are different, the icons are completely changed, and the ominbox is redesigned to suit mobile apps. Good news: if you are not a fan of the new design, you can turn it off:
- In the URL bar, enter
chrome://flags
and press Enter. - Find Material Design at the top of your browser and set either Intangible to return to the previous interface or Hybrid Material to enable hybrid mode. However, we cannot say exactly what is different from the hybrid mode and the default mode.
That being said, you can continue your fun journey while ignoring Google’s latest design.
