Use This Six-Part Outline to Write Your Perfect Speech.
Writing a speech and delivering it are two different tasks. If you’re unsure where to start the writing process, use this six-part outline as a guide.
At Muse, Deborah Grayson Rigel, CEO and Head Coach for Support Communications Talk: Don’t Be Silent , explains that good speech should be simple and streamlined. And you can organize it using the following scheme:
- An eye-catching introduction , perhaps a quote, story, or statistic. Whichever method you choose for your introduction should be interesting and engaging.
- Preview: Tell the listener what you are going to cover in your speech.
- Several reasons to support your reasoning : Write a few conclusions that the audience should take from your presentation.
- Summary : Tell your audience what they just learned from your speech.
- Q&A : Rigel suggests examining Q&A before summing up so you can finish on your own terms.
- The Closer : As Rigel put it, “Make the ultimate inspirational conclusion that will make people think and act differently, and then end with an exciting statement to remember.”
Of course, there are many nuances to good speech, and you don’t want it to seem like you are following a formula. However, this is a good plan for organizing your ideas. For more tips on writing a speech, navigate to the full post at the link below.
