Hotwire analyzed hotel information over the past year to find the cheapest time to visit major US cities in the summer. Their report simply covers accommodation, but we also told you that this summer is the cheapest days to fly . Overall, Hotwire found the last two weeks of August to be the best time to travel. You can get an idea of how prices vary by city in the heatmap above (the full post has more cities and dates).
They also listed 10 cities where 3-5-star accommodations can be found around this time for under $ 67 a night:

- Minneapolis
