Create Your Own Mini NES With Raspberry Pi and This 3D Print

Nintendo’s new Mini NES is a cool tiny Nintendo console coming in November , but you don’t have to wait that long to get your hands on it. With a 3D printed case and Raspberry Pi, you can easily make your own.

The best case we found belongs to Thingiverse user jrepeiro . It is designed so that you can use the case with a Raspberry Pi Model B + or Model 2/3. If you have an older model B, the original tastic007 case will work . If you don’t want to get your hands on a paint kit for a model, you’ll miss out on the Nintendo branding, but otherwise the case is a surprisingly well-made small copy that you can 3D print directly from Thingiverse for about $ 30. From there, you just need a couple of controllers like these from Amazon , a Raspberry Pi ( we recommend Model 3 ), and a power supply. All in all, the entire project should be around $ 85, but unlike the official Nintendo variant, you get a lot more games.

Once your content is put together, you can follow our guide to setting up your Pi with emulators and you’ll start playing classic NES games right away. Check out Thingiverse for case and print options, or if you don’t have DIY skills, you’ll find tons of case options on sites like Etsy .
