Microsoft Start Menu Repair Tool Fixes Common Windows 10 Start Menu Irritants
Windows: The Windows 10 Start menu is useful, but not perfect. Sometimes tiles disappear or they don’t open at all when you click on them or press the Windows key. In other cases, the tiles are not updating or Cortana is unresponsive. Luckily, this is where Microsoft’s free Start Menu Repair Tool comes in handy.
The utility checks your Start Menu for common errors, fixes them, and leaves you with a hopefully fully functional Start Menu. On Windows it explains:
When you run the troubleshooter on your Windows 10 PC, it checks if the required apps like Microsoft.Windows.ShellExperienceHost and Microsoft.Windows.Cortana are properly installed and also checks for permission issues with registry keys, checks if it is corrupted the tile database and finally checks if the application manifest is corrupted.
Personally, I had recurring issues with the Start menu not opening when I hit the Windows key or hit the Start button until I restart enough times, but once I ran the troubleshooter, the problem seemed to go away at least for now. Microsoft recommends using this tool and then restarting your system and hopefully the issues should be resolved. If you want to give it a try, you can download it right here or get it from the support page linked below.
