Learn How to Properly Dig a Hole and Poop in the Forest
Sometimes, nature speaks to the locals as you explore. This illustrated guide explains how to do business right in the wilderness and how to prevent it from becoming a problem for others.
In this illustrated guide from Ted Slampjak from The Art of Manliness , you will learn how to find a place to dig a pit to poop in. To get started, move 200 feet (about 70 steps) from your camp and any water sources or trails. Find an area in the area with easy-to-dig soil and plenty of sunshine. Using a trowel or stick, dig a hole four to six inches wide and six to eight inches deep. Now go about your business. If you’ve used biodegradable toilet paper or leaves, leave them in the hole. When you’re done, fill the hole with the earth you dug.
