A Modern Atlas Helps You Plan Your Trip and Find Out About Your Destination
iOS: Modern Atlas is one of many travel planning apps that can organize what you want to see, do and eat on your next vacation. It focuses on the exploratory part and gives you tons of information about your destination that you can use to plan your perfect trip.
You can use Modern Atlas in two main ways: to find out about your destination before leaving and to plan things like where you will stop, eat and see the sights, or to find out what’s happening around you at the moment. Either way, you will get a lot of information, including from how to get to an interesting place, the history of that place, to how to stay safe when you get there. There is even a section called “Next,” which suggests nearby cities or places you might want to visit and how to get there.
Modern Atlas extracts information from sites such as Wikipedia , Foursquare, and Wikivoyage , so some sections may be incomplete or 100% inaccurate. For example, I tried out the app by looking at Capri , where I’ve been before, and found that the arts and culture section was empty. Each destination has photos (from 500px ) that you can check, but I found that many of them are overly edited and do not match what you actually saw in person.
You can save bookmarked places on the map for each trip you plan to make it easier to refer to the links later. There is also a 3D mode if you want to see a Google Satellite style map. All in all, Modern Atlas brings together a wealth of useful information in one place for easy exploration and travel planning.
