Facebook Adds Tools to Flag Messages From Friends Who Are Suicidal

Facebook is introducing a new feature that will allow you to flag a friend’s post as a post that says “suicide or self-harm.”

After you flag a post, the post is sent to the global Facebook community group, where the members of the group review it. When you flag a message, you are presented with a menu of options, including the ability to directly write to the person with the suggested text if you don’t know what to say. If your post is checked, you’ll see a range of reach options, including tips and resources for working with suicide prevention organizations. The new feature is reported to be launching globally today.
