How Much Are You Saving With Regular Brands and When to Spend More?
We all know that most regular brand products are cheaper . Most of them are usually just as good, if not identical, to the brand name. We want to know how much you can save by ditching brands.
Personal finance site Three Thrifty Guys decided to make a diagram from their own experience of this experiment. During a typical shopping trip, the site compared prices of 16 different items they usually buy. They found that what usually costs $ 56.24 for well-known brands only costs $ 41.51 when shopping in stores. Total savings $ 14.73. Not so bad!
I was surprised at how quickly the savings increased. By choosing the cheapest option, we saved over 25%! For my wife and I (no kids), the difference between choosing generics and named brands each month would be roughly $ 60.
Of course, everyone buys different things, so how is your experience different? Have you ever compared your typical shopping budget to see how much you can save by skipping loud labels? Alternatively, when should you spend the extra money buying another brand?
