Julienne Fruits and Vegetables Much Faster With Mandolin
Julienne sliced fruits and vegetables are great toppings for salads, but they don’t require any special knife skills. A mandolin cutter can do most of the work for you, even if you don’t have a special accessory.
In this video from the ChefSteps YouTube channel , Chef Grant Crilly demonstrates a neat trick for quickly slicing julienne from all foods . Simply slice the fruit or vegetables with a mandolin knife, stack the slices on top of each other and use the knife to cut them into thin matches. Some mandolin slicers come with a julienne blade attachment, but if you don’t have one, the mandolin will still speed up the process. This method also gives you a little more control over the shape and thickness of the matches, so give it a try.
