Worst Airports and Airlines in the United States Due to Flight Delays
Summer airport traffic will be particularly heavy this year , and some airports will be worse than others. Although long lines are mostly dependent on TSA staff, you should at least be aware of airports that are already experiencing high flight delays.
Based on data from the Department of Transportation, Time.com has compiled a list of airports with the worst flight delays. For all of these airports, the percentage of flights arriving on time was less than 80 percent. Here are the top five:
- San Francisco, California (SFO) – 71.82% on time flights
- Miami, Florida (MIA) -76.03%
- Fort Lauderdale, Florida (FLL) -76.60%
- Dallas / Fort Worth, TX (DFW) – 76.64%
- Denver, Colorado (DEN) -77.21%
This data also tells you which airlines are often late. Here is a list of the airlines with the worst flight delays, along with their percentage of on-time arrivals at all airports:
- Spirit Airlines -64.6%
- Virgin America – 73.8%
- JetBlue-76%
- Border-77.6%
- SkyWest-78.7%
