Testing Two Homemade Air Conditioners
DIY air conditioners may seem like a cheap way to get rid of the heat, but they’re not perfect. This video tests two homemade versions and compares them to real AC units.
In this video from YouTube channel Consumer Reports , air conditioning specialist Chris Regan built two homemade air conditioners worth about $ 30 to see how they work. Within an hour, both homemade devices were able to lower the temperature in the test room by about three degrees. And after half an hour of running, the temperature began to rise again. However, when they tested spot cooling with DIY blocks, they found that the air was about 15 degrees colder. So, at best, you need to sit right next to your DIY AC to get any benefit from it. A homemade unit is better than nothing, but you’ll be much better off with a real AC unit that can cool entire rooms and keep the temperature.
