Poncho Will Wake You up and Tell You About the Weather With an Adorable Cartoon Cat
iOS / Android / Facebook Messenger: Poncho gently wakes you up with music that changes with the weather, offers a simple and useful forecast for the day, provides transit and traffic information, and helps you get through the day with a few GIFs and some jokes – and cartoon kitten.
At the beginning of the day, instead of a siren or a series of beeps, you hear a quiet musical alarm. A glance at your phone gives you a simple forecast for the day, air quality and pollen alerts, and their “bad hair outlook,” which will let you know if it’s a curly or rainy day. If you live in a city with heavy traffic or transit, you will be notified of delays, accidents, train problems, etc. Your local forecast is delivered to your phone twice a day and you will also receive helpful reminders about such things like “bring an umbrella” or “cover”, which I appreciate.
Poncho started life as a text service that guides you through all of this, combined with a little frivolity to start your day on the right foot. It morphed into a full-fledged iPhone app a few months ago, then into the Facebook messaging service, and today into a new beta version of the Android app. All three options will give you the same fun and useful information. Click on the links below to sign up for the Android beta, or download the iPhone app.
