Choose the Perfect Blazer According to These Four Criteria
When you drop money on a jacket, you need to make sure you are doing it right. While it is helpful to arm yourself with measurements, there are four simple criteria that you can easily remember.
There are four things you need to check to make sure your jacket fits properly, according to sewing company J. Crew:
- Make sure that the seams of your jacket fall directly on the natural edge of your shoulder.
- Make sure the sleeves fit snugly around your wrist, leaving a quarter to one-half inch for the shirt cuff.
- When your top button is zipped over a two-button suit, make sure there is enough room between your chest and jacket for two horizontal fingers.
- The hem of the jacket should reach down to the front pockets.
While not exactly a replacement for a tailored suit, these four criteria will help you navigate if you’re shopping off the rack. Check out the full article to see diagrams of what each criterion should look like.
