Build Your Own Kindle Audio Adapter for Less Than $ 10

Amazon currently sells audio adapters that allow visually impaired Kindle owners to read audiobooks aloud. Usually this adapter costs about $ 20, but you can make your own for only half that amount.

As the German e-book site ALLESebook explains, the Kindle audio adapter is a plastic enclosure around a micro-USB to full-size USB adapter plugged into a USB to 3.5mm headphone adapter. You can buy both of these parts on Amazon for as little as $ 10. If you are willing to wait a bit with delivery, you can further reduce that amount. For example, you can find audio adapters and USB adapters for as little as $ 2-4. Once connected to your Kindle, your device should automatically start reading everything aloud. Keep in mind that this is an accessibility option for the blind and visually impaired, so that means everything , including the menu options, will be read aloud. It might not be ideal for anyone who just wants to turn their regular e-books into audiobooks, but it’s a convenient way to save money anyway.
