Create a Raspberry Pi-Based Media Player That Randomly Plays the Simpsons Episode

There are tons of The Simpsons episodes out there, but if you’re dreaming of the days just watching which episode plays on TV at any given moment, Master Stephen Coyle will create a little system powered by a Raspberry Pi Zero that plays a random episode.

This project requires you to have real copies of the Simpsons episodes (which you downloaded or recorded yourself ) saved on your Pi’s SD card. Otherwise, you just need to install the script and attach the button. When you press a button, the Pi queues up a random episode. This project is by no means limited to The Simpsons, it will work with whatever videos you have on your SD card. Basically, the script just plays a random video file from the directory, so you can play any show (or shows) you want. Regardless of how you decide to use it, head over to Coyle’s site to find a guide to make it for yourself.
