Citra Simulates 3DS Games in Higher Resolution
Windows / Mac / Linux: The Nintendo 3DS is a great little system , but with a max resolution of 400 x 240, it’s not exactly pretty. Citra is an emulator that is still in its early stages of development, but it has the ability to upscale 3DS games to 1600 x 960.
Citra is pretty much an open source beta product, but a handful of games are running at a reasonable speed right now. The most interesting part is the new feature that upscales games to high definition. As shown in screenshots from their collection , games look amazing in some cases. This makes playing 3DS games on a large monitor much more viable. Of course, as with any emulation, the biggest trick is getting games, and uploading your own games to Citra from the 3DS is a convoluted but doable process . It’s still a long way from being a viable medium for playing 3DS games on the big screen, but worth playing around if you’re curious.
