Turn Old Towels Into Baby Bibs With This Pattern

If you have old towels that you are ready to replace, or have already gone to the trash can, give them new life in the form of absorbent baby bibs. Keep clean bibs close at hand, save on expensive baby equipment, and get more out of your towels.

Baby bibs aren’t super expensive, but they can still be labeled depending on where you shop. If you’re going to throw out your old bath or tea towels anyway, use this free template (which can be printed on plain printer paper) from Made Everyday to outline your bibs on the towel. Here’s what else you’ll need:

  • Sewing machine
  • A thread
  • An inch long piece of Velcro.
  • Oblique tape (optional)

If you choose not to use bias tape, you will need to sew around the edge of the bib to keep the fabric from ripping apart over time (or not, if you don’t care, that’s an old towel after all). When you’re done, you have a baby bib that you can use, rewash and wear – and hopefully have a cleaner baby too. For step-by-step instructions, see the link below.
