Decide How Much Money Your Work-Life Balance Is Worth

Everyone has their own way of maintaining a work-life balance . If you’ve never tried to tie a dollar amount to how important that balance is to you, you might want to give it a try.

As the personal finance site Millennial Money Man points out, a fair number of us would be willing to cut our paychecks if it meant we had a better balance between our home and work life. One study by Fidelity Investments found that 4 in 10 workers would be willing to cut wages to $ 7,600 to maintain that balance.

When you negotiate a salary , you decide how much the job costs you. When considering how many hours you work or how demanding a job is, it is helpful to have an idea of how much your life is worth. You may not be able to put a specific figure in dollars per year, but you can at least consider what salary would be “enough,” and at what threshold, more money is not as important as more time.
