Use the Hidden “low Resolution” Option to Improve Game Performance on Mac Retina Computers
Retina display Macs look great, but most of them don’t have the ability to run games at such incredibly high resolutions. While you can usually change the resolution in-game or at the system level , OS X Daily points out a little hidden option that makes it all easier.
All you have to do is find the game you want to run in the Applications folder, then press Command + i (or right-click and select Get Info). In General Preferences, you will see the “Open in Low Resolution” option. Check this box, then open your game. This launches the game at non-Retina Mac resolution, which should dramatically improve performance for most games. If you’re having problems with games (or any other software) running slowly, this is a pretty quick fix.
