Delta Will No Longer Charge Customers Additional Fees for Offline Flight Bookings
Airlines are notorious for their fees, and phone booking fees are one of the most hated . Some airlines actually charge customers more when they book flights over the phone or at the airport rather than online. Delta has decided to drop this fee.
In a press release, the company announced that it will no longer charge customers for offline bookings:
Delta Air Lines will no longer charge commission to customers who purchase tickets over the phone at Reservation Sales or in person at airports and other ticket offices *.
“It is much easier for our customers not to worry about paying for tickets with Delta,” said Glen Howenstein, Delta’s new president.
Delta previously charged a commission of $ 25 per ticket when purchased over the phone through Reservation Sales and $ 35 per ticket when purchased at airports and other ticketing offices.
This is an amazing move, considering that airlines are killing at these fees . However, as Fortune notes, Delta recently reported $ 1 billion in net profit for the first quarter of 2016. So they will probably be fine.
In the meantime, we hope other airlines will follow suit and provide customers with the option to waive similar fees . Check out the full press release at the link below.
